"Actigraphy in Central Disorders of Hypersomnolence: Wearables and Sleep Tracking"

Join us on Monday, November 25, at 7:00 PM Eastern / 4:00 PM Pacific via Zoom for a discussion on the strengths, limitations, and overall utility of wearable sleep tracking technology for research and clinical applications. The session will be led by Jesse Cook, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health.

About Our Speaker

Jesse Cook, PhD (he/him) is a postdoctoral fellow in School of Medicine of Public Health, Department of Psychiatry, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed his pre-doctoral internship at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. His scientist-practitioner training and skillset centers on the intersection of sleep and mental health, with his primary program of research purposed to advance the classification, assessment, and treatment of Idiopathic Hypersomnia/Hypersomnolence Disorder. Additionally, he has produced a body of research related to the strengths, limitations, and overall utility of wearable sleep tracking technology for research and clinical purposes, and recently served as a coauthor for the inaugural State of the science and recommendations for using wearable technology in sleep and circadian research. Clinically, he embraces an integrative orientation, drawing principally from CBT and third-wave therapy approaches (i.e., ACT and DBT). He is very passionate about behavioral sleep medicine and intends to specialize as a Diplomate in Behavioral Sleep Medicine.
